"Your body functions as a whole and the lymphatic system is part of it”.

Whole body function starts with the fuel, which is the hydrogen in the nutrients. Food is broken down in our body by digestive enzymes into nutrients -  organic acids (compounds of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen), which circulate in the body as salts, ”explains Raudsik.

Raudsik adds that although the body receives energy from acids, most tissues in the body are alkaline, including the lymph. Alkalinity is mainly ensured in the body by the bicarbonate buffer system. Different tissues have different acid-base balances or pHs for optimal function. Bones are powerful storage units for bicarbonate, and the pH of bone tissue is the most basic tissue in the body (pH about 14). Bone thinning is always associated with disturbing the balance of the body's internal environment, when they have to give up their basic salts to maintain the pH of other tissues, so it can be said that bones are also very important in keeping lymph alkaline.

Deviations in the acid-base balance of the body's internal environment lead to an immune attack on its tissues, followed by inflammation.

Easiest way to remember this, is that too much sweet makes your body acidic and anything sour is more alkaline for the body.

How to maintain an optimal tissue acid-base balance when acidic foods predominate in our diet on a daily basis and people are intimidated by the harmful effects of salts?

"Not the whole truth is said about the salts. It is harmful to overdo it with refined salts (NaCl, white table salt). The Himalayan salt is currently the best-known salt with high minerality and the addition of sodium bicarbonate (ie baking soda or 4-salt blend) to the water we drink in controlled doses is suitable and even necessary, because the share of bicarbonate salts in soil and water has become non-existent.

When we talk about metabolism, we are talking about the production of energy in the body, the breakdown of organic acids in each of every fifty trillion human cells. Since the cell has the ability to balance the salt concentration inside and around itself through osmosis, it is clear that the most energy efficient is to drink water with a salinity or mineral content that is similar to the cells. The intracellular pH is neutral, 7.0, and probably has such a low pH is necessary so that the cell is able to survive in a more extreme environment than, for example, blood. So that it is not destroyed due to excessive acid accumulation, for example in stronger athletic performance. Lightly alkalising body fluids through drinking water allows cells to get rid of acidic residues more easily and is the fastest way to stabilize the environment. The cellular environment determines whether a person is healthy or sick, whether his or her most important defense, the immune system, is attacking them or not. The free movement of lymph plays a crucial role in preserving the environment, ”emphasizes Raudsik.

Talking to Riina Raudsik about the quantity of water a human body needs, she explains that actually what makes a huge difference is what kind of water we drink.

"The daily water flowing from the tap does not contain enough minerals for the body. Natural water has also remained poor in minerals and rich in heavy metals precisely because of human activity. Heavy metals block the work of enzymes and energy production processes. If we drink so-called fresh water, there will be no adequate thirst and the soil is favorable for the development of diseases" warns Dr. Raudsik. High blood pressure is the most common disease caused by banning salts in drinks or food. Salt-free food does not cause thirst, does not make people drink water, which causes the blood to thicken, the heart has to work harder to direct the thick blood to the tissues, the kidneys can no longer produce enough urine to cleanse the body, and the result is disease, cell destruction.

What is the importance of the lymphatic system, which is unknown to so many?

"There are two flowing tissues in the body - blood and lymph. We know quite a lot about blood. There are two systems in the bloodstream - the arterial or high blood pressure system, which carries oxygen-rich blood from the heart to the body, and the low pressure system, venous blood, which brings carbonated (acidic) blood back to the heart. The acidic end product of metabolism CO2 is excreted into the environment through the lungs, thus regulating excessive acidification of the environment.

Lymph is a fluid that moves parallel to blood vessels and has many lymph nodes in its path. Lymph, like blood, must be alkaline (pH 7.36-7.42), "explains the doctor.

The lymph absorbs everything foreign or unnecessary from the intercellular fluid.

The functions of the lymphatic system are:

- Bring the purified lymph from the tissues back into the bloodstream

- Remove fluid from the extracellular environment to prevent swelling.

- Remove dead cells, incompletely developed cells, excess bacteria and fungi from tissues

- Transport fatty acids from the digestive system to the blood.

Lymphocytes and macrophages in the lymph nodes are supposed to render about 1 BILLION false cells a day in a properly hydrated body. If there is a fault in the system (such as a lack of water), it will be disrupted and the body will be open to inflammation again. Through inflammation, the body then tries to restore its balance.
